Day 10
August 22, 1999
This day would be spent taking in the local sites. While we
waited for the kids to wake, Michelle and I walked and walked, and walked way up and back
down the beach. A great place to get away.
We headed off to Green Gables, but Matt and I got quickly
bored so we explored the trails while Michelle and Niki took in the tour. We checked out
the Ripley and Titanic exhibits that were in the area and as the rain seemed to just never
end, we ended up driving around. I nearly didn't get the RV out of the Ripley
parking lot thought. The red clay with all the rain was like a big sheet of ice (with
potholes). I struggled to keep from sliding sideways as I tried to drive out of the
parking lot but with the front wheeldrive, the wheel spinning managed to cover the whole
RV in red. Years from now, (even though we tried hard to clean it up) I suspect that Don
and Cathy (the RV owners) will still be finding the red clay in little nooks and crannies
and asking themselves how the h--- did it get in there?. Mind you, after they read this,
they will forever know...
We found Dalvay by the Sea. An old hotel with a bit of grand
history, and the backdrop to a couple of Canadian east coast movies and TV shows. It was a
pleasant discovery, and since the weather was still wet, we stayed and had a real fancy
($$$) dinner.

Afterwards, the rain seemed to start moving on, so we again
walked, and explored the beach for the rest of the day.
