Well, not really. Basilisk Dreams Books is a bookstore specializing in Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, and some Children's Literature related to these areas. It also carries some roleplaying game material as well, but not all that much. It was founded by John M. Kahane (that's me <g>) and Kimberly Stevens. My own introduction to Science Fiction and Fantasy literature goes back quite some way. You can see the SF & Fantasy Intro page for the basics on this by following the link. Both Kimberly and I had dreamed about owning a bookstore specializing in science fiction and fantasy for many, many years, but it was only when we got together that we were able to indulge ourselves in this...whim. Well, not really a whim...when it comes right down to it, Basilisk Dreams Books (BDB, for short) has been a lot of hard work, involved a lot of determination, but has been quite satisfying for both of us. The work is somewhat more difficult, now that Kimberly has left BDB, but it is still rewarding...and it's still the fulfillment of the dream that I had to run a science fiction and fantasy bookstore. Life goes on... The dream has become reality, and what more could one ask for in life? What makes things even neater in some ways is that I get to read a lot of sf and fantasy novels now, and I can even claim it's for the business! <g>

Basilisk Dreams Books has its own Web site, and there's all sorts of information about the store there; the amount of material at the Basilisk Dreams Web site is growing on a daily business, but it takes time to add material to the pages already there... Basilisk Dreams Books will be celebrating its third anniversary (yes, we've been open now for just about two and a half years!) on the 1st of August, 1999, and we invite everyone out to the store to see what we have to offer.
