Services Available

The following services are available to clients of Forensic Behavioural Analysis (FBA). Each service is based on an extensive analysis of all the available information surrounding the matter of interest to the client. The analysis methodology is based on research conducted by, and training Ron MacKay received at, the National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime located at the FBI Academy, Quantico, Virginia.

This training is in conjunction with his over 35 years of police experience, including eight years experience as a Criminal Investigative Analyst(commonly referred to as Psychological Profiler) with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, as well as numerous specialized training courses from other sources. These services should be considered as professional opinions and recommendations or suggestions based on available information.

Originally designed for use in relation to crimes of interpersonal violence, threats and stalking but can now also be of great value by forming the basis of successful strategies and solutions in many non-criminal matters as well. What were the main elements of the crime and in what order did they take place? Usually in relation to crimes of interpersonal violence

Through analysis of verbal, physical and sexual behaviour arrive at an opinion as to whether a series of crimes was committed by the same offender or not

To arrive at an opinion as to homicide, suicide or accident being the manner of death.

Usually in conjunction with an Indirect Personality Assessment.

Usually entails an evaluation of the credibility of the threat, and the potential for personal injury or damage to property

Designed to arrive at the most effective means of resolving the situation.

Consultation/advice on prevention through policies & practices.

Applied when authorship of a document is questioned and sufficient appropriate documents, known to be written by the potential author(s) of the questioned document, are available. It entails an examination of the verbal behaviour and writing style within all the documents to arrive at an opinion as to the most likely author of the questioned document. Not to be confused with linguistics or document examination in the traditional sense.

Referral via an extensive network of forensic experts.
Check.gif (662 bytes) Scientific Content Analysis (Statement analysis)
Scientific examination of a written statement, or transcript of a recorded statement, in order to identify areas of deceit, issue avoidance and issue sensitivity - when combined with behavioural analysis can surface motivations behind areas identified.


As the first Canadian trained by the FBI in these techniques, and now proprietor of the first such service outside of law enforcement in Canada, Ron MacKay, of Forensic Behavioural Analysis, offers a service not previously available to the private sector in Canada. The same standard of ethics and confidentiality practised within law enforcement will be maintained within Forensic Behavioural Analysis.
