Regarded by many as one of the finest bass player to play in Black Flag, the Rickenbacker-wielding Kira appears on five Flag studio albums, including both of their instrumental releases. Sister of 45 Grave keyboardist Paul Roessler, Kira joined Black Flag in 1984, just in time to record the album Slip it In. Contrary to some rumours (which are typical: the Go-go's "couldn't play"; X-Ray Spex "couldn't play"; the Slits "couldn't play"...funny how people love going around saying that women muscicians "can't play"!) her technical prowess was considerable. Two examples of her talent are Account for What? (from the album Family Man and Your Last Affront (from the Process of Weeding Out). Kira left the band in 1985, shortly after completing work on the album In My Head.
After she left Black Flag, she went on to compose for the group fIREHOSE and play with the band Dos (meaning "two") with her then-husband and fellow bassist Mike Watt (of the Minutemen and fIREHOSE).
